1989 - 1991: Honda CB 50 GLX '89This was my first 'motorcycle'. A kind of scooter that is very popular in Hellas but not so much in other European countries (with the exception of the UK). It had a 49cc 4-stroke engine with 4 semi-automatic gears (without grip clutch handle) and could reach 90 kmh (that is almost 56 mph)! My brother Stavros still drives it after having it bored to 90cc at 60.000 km by me, Yoryos and Michalis! He calls it 'Dolly' after Lucky Luck's horse which is also white. :-) Actually(*) it has reached 80.000 km although Stavros does not change the engine oil very often!
In the pics bellow it is me and Dolly back in 1990. I wasn't even 18 years old at that time.. Look at all that hair! :-) After that, at the age of 18, I moved to the Yamaha Virago 250.
This is me on summer 2000 going at the south of Crete after the 90cc transformation. Note all that stuff loaded on Dolly! :-)
(*) Last update: Dolly is dead! :-( She passed away in Athens on December 2003 after 14 years of service and 80.000 km of road. RIP.
